Jesuit High School senior William Degenhart Jr., who served as Marine Corps Junior ROTC battalion commander, received direct appointments to not one, but three service academies: the United States Air Force Academy, the United States Military Academy at West Point and the United States Naval Academy.

When Pope Leo XIV was elected on May 8, Cabrini High School excitedly began reflecting on possible ties the city and the high school might have to the new pontiff.

When someone accepts election as pontiff, there undergoes a change in that individual, not only in life purpose in leading global Catholicism for, presumably, the rest of one’s life, but in one’s own identity, seen in leaving one’s own name and thereafter accepting a new name.
