DEPAUL COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTERS (DCHC), ribbon cutting ceremony for its new, 20,000- square-foot health center, located at 2801 General de Gaulle Drive in Algiers, Aug. 9,10 a.m. The new health center will bring imaging, urgent care services, primary and preventive care and more to the community. Retired local news anchor, Sally-Ann Roberts, will serve as emcee. New Orleans Mayor Latoya Cantrell, New Orleans Archbishop Gregory Aymond, LA District 102 Rep. Delisha Boyd, LA District 7 Rep. Gary Carter and other local and state leaders are confirmed to attend.
DOMINICAN HIGH SCHOOL, The Hillbilly Thomists, will perform Aug. 10, 7 p.m. 7701 Walmsley Ave., New Orleans. A concert featuring friars from the Order of Preachers who play original and traditional Americana-Bluegrass music. General admission $30, children $15, religious free. ST. CHRISTOPHER THE MARTYR PARISH, Vatican International Exhibition of the Eucharistic Miracles of the World, Aug. 10-11, at the parish center, 309 Manson Ave., Metairie. Hours are Saturday from 3-7 p.m. and Sunday from 7 a.m.-8 p.m. The exhibit is available at no cost to all parishes, schools and organizations. The exhibition was the brain child of Blessed Carlo Acutis, who will be canonized a saint in 2025. BLESSING OF LOUISIANA AND THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER, begins Aug. 14 with Mass at St. Joseph Cathedral in Baton Rouge. A floating eucharistic procession will travel on the Mississippi River to New Orleans, and arrive on Aug. 15 by 4:25 p.m. at the Natchez boat dock. Mass at St. Louis Cathedral at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 15 at the conclusion of the Eucharistic Revival. A procession will follow. All are invited to participate.

V. JOSEPH LIBERTO, a sophomore at Louisiana State University, was recently elected student body president. He attended St. Catherine of Siena School, Christian Brothers School and Jesuit High School, where he served as student body president in 2022. He is the son of Evelyn and Vincent Liberto of Metairie.
