All types of camps – from regular day camp to sports camps – are being offered this summer through Camp Cabrini.
Five sessions of regular camp are available for boys and girls entering first through seventh grade from May 30-July 1.
This Catholic camp emphasizes Mother Cabrini’s core values of respect, excellence and service, beginning each day with prayer.
Before- and after-camp care are offered for a fee. Campers are divided into first through fourth graders, and fifth through seventh graders.
Boys and girls who attend the regular, day-long camp (from 9 a.m.-3 p.m.) can choose from arts and crafts, cooking, jewelry making, painting, STEM, cross-stitching, board games, drama, basic sports and dance and cheer activities.
Leadership training “Camp Cabrini offers a multitude of fun activities that give campers the chance to engage in new skills, practice leadership and make long-lasting friendships and memories,” said camp director Taylor Jennings. “Campers learn to do this through the guidance of the Camp Cabrini staff, which consists of Cabrini alumnae and current students. Camp Cabrini is a great way to spend your summer!”
Cost is $160 a week, with a nonrefundable $60 registration fee ($70 after May 1) that includes a camp T-shirt. Contact Jennings at [email protected] for more information.
Campers interested in drama and theater, can register for a performing arts camp July 11-15 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. This camp ends in a showcase July 15 at 2 p.m. Before- and after-care are offered upon request. The camp fee is $200. Contact Caroline Argus-Harris at (504) 556-4373 or [email protected]
Concentrations in sports Campers in first through seventh grade who desire to improve specific athletic skills can do that in basketball, soccer, volleyball and softball camps.
“Our head coaches run the sports camps, so these young kids have the chance to be around high school coaches and athletes,” said athletic director Kirk Maronge.
“Our camps are offered in a Catholic environment, where the kids get a taste of what it’s like to be a part of the Cabrini community. Aside from working on fundamental skills in each respective sport, we aim to foster a love for the sport at a young age. These camps are fun and incorporate different games and activities on top of technical skill development.”
The basketball camp is open to boys and girls entering first through seventh grades July 5-8, 9 a.m.-3 p.m., teaching the fundamentals of ball handling, shooting, passing, rebounding, triple-threat moves and defense. Cost: $170. Head basketball coach Nancy Walsh conducts the camp. Contact her at (504) 556-4389 or [email protected].
