Dominican students receive speech and debate awards
Junior Inchara Anand and senior Isabella Paul placed first in duo interpretation at the virtual Trinity High School Shamrock Invitational in Kentucky. The students performed an abbreviated version of the play "Perfect" by Alan Haehnel.
Competing at the virtual Star Valley Invitational in Wyoming, junior Shania Raimer placed second overall in original oratory topic – tribalism. She discussed the damaging effect that political tribalism has on our country and some ideas to correct the issue.
At the Benjamin Franklin Speech and Debate Tournament, held virtually, these students received awards: Raimer, first, impromptu speaking and first in original oratory with tribalism; Aya Elmadah, second, original oratory with Toxic (how modern beauty standards have become more dangerous than ever); Rachael Tatford, original oratory with "Destroying Ecosystems and Winning Trophies" (how big game hunting hurts ecosystems); Selae Walker, third, Congress. In public forum, Sahithi Koneru and Imad Siddiqui placed first, and Diana Nguyen and Grace Mandella, placed third.
Dominican's Speech and Debate Club moderators are Adam Naquin and Bradley Guillory; and coaches are Kristina Plunkett and Andrew Cerise.
