As New Orleans draws international attention with the NFL’s first regular-season game being played in Paris on Oct. 25, St. Mary’s Academy is proud to share its own connection to this moment of cultural exchange between Louisiana and France.
St. Mary’s Academy is honored to accept an invitation to bring their Cougar Marching Unit to Normandy, France, in June 2027. The Unit is slated to participate in commemorative
programming honoring the legacy of D-Day and World War II.
This opportunity includes programming connected to the D-Day Memorial Parade and Concert de Libération in Sainte-Mère-Église, offering St. Mary’s Academy students a unique opportunity to engage with history, culture and music on an international stage.
For St. Mary’s Academy, the invitation represents more than an opportunity to perform abroad, it reflects the power of music to connect communities, preserve history and create meaningful experiences for young people. Students will have the unique opportunity to represent the school, New Orleans and Louisiana while participating in commemorations honoring the service of those who shaped history.
Founded in 1867 by the Sisters of the Holy Family, St. Mary’s Academy has a longstanding commitment to faith, service, leadership, scholarship and excellence. The invitation to Normandy presents an opportunity for Maryites to carry those values beyond the classroom and onto an international stage.
The school looks forward to sharing more about this opportunity and the students who represent the school in Normandy in June 2027.
