Seeing the Rays of Christ

Fall is the perfect time to step outside and embrace the shift in weather as the season changes. Whether we go alone or together, this can be a way the Lord speaks to us. Through the gift of nature, God reminds us that he created it all for us to enjoy and care for. Ask him to show you what he wants to share with you.

One fun way to notice his love is by looking for hearts in nature – in the shapes of rocks, leaves, or other treasures found in creation. Share this wonder with your children or allow it to draw out childlike joy in yourself, as we embrace the abundance of gifts the Lord has given.

“O Lord, how awesome is your name through all the earth.” – Psalm 8:1

As I reflected on this Psalm, I envisioned rays of sunlight shining through the trees reminding me of the Monstrance, with rays of light radiating from Christ in the Blessed Sacrament.

That image is a precious gift that will remain with me. It has shown me a new way to notice the Lord’s presence in my life. I have always loved looking up at the trees and watching the sunlight stream through the layers of leaves. Now, I understand that he was speaking to me all along – I didn’t recognize it. Today, I can take comfort in knowing that he has been revealing his love and presence throughout my life.

Thank you, God, for the gifts of your creation. You are constantly speaking to us. Your love is unconditional, present in every breath we take. Help me pause in my day, see through your eyes, notice your holy presence and see your fingerprints – in the leaves, in the sky, in the small details of creation. 

I encourage you to take a walk outside. Ask God to reveal his presence to you in a new and playful way.
