Blessing of the Fleet - 2025

Blessing of the Fleet at Shell Beach, a cherished tradition that honors the community’s fishing heritage, was celebrated on July 27. Archbishop Gregory Aymond, Father Hoang Tuong, pastor of St. Bernard Church and Deacon Wayne Lobell, chaplain of Stella Maris Maritime Ministries, blessed the boats, waters, fishermen and captains asking for safety and protection through hurricane season. On August 2, Archbishop Aymond went to "the end of the world" for a second Blessing of the Fleet in Delacroix. There he was once again joined by Father Hoang Tuong, pastor of St. Bernard Church and Deacon Wayne Lobell, chaplain of Stella Maris Maritime Ministries and prayed for the safety of all on the water.
