For years a statue of Our Lady of Prompt Succor has stood in an alcove to the left of the altar of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Covington. Standing approximately 5 ½ feet tall, the statue, which was donated by St. Teresa Church in New Orleans, received an upgrade on May 31 during the parish anniversary celebration thanks to a dedicated parishioner with a particular devotion to Our Lady of Prompt Succor.

Voices rang out in praise, worship and thanks as the St. Augustine Parish community gathered together in their church for the first time since Hurricane Ida. To commemorate the re-opening of the 185-year-old St. Augustine Church in Treme five years after the hurricane devastated the property, the parish held a two-hour Gospel Jazz Mass at 10 a.m. on June 7.

Celebrating the Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity on May 31 and the Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ on June 7

We have been preparing throughout the nine weeks prior to the consecration (on June 14) with various common prayer intentions. More immediately, we will prepare by every parish offering a Holy Hour of Eucharistic Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament on Thursday June 4, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. I will lead the Holy Hour at our St. Louis Cathedral and hope to see those able to come there.

In front of a standing room only congregation gathered at St. Louis Cathedral on May 30, four men prostrated themselves on the altar and promised to live their lives as priests of Jesus. As Archbishop James Checchio ordained Father Brett Barrios, Father Will Sigl, Father Joseph Bui and Father James Vu priests of the Archdiocese of New Orleans, he reminded them there is nothing they could do to make themselves deserving of this gift of the priesthood, but that answering the call to this life is a response to the love of God for them and the love of God for His Church.
