At St. Matthew the Apostle in River Ridge, dedication to innovation in education has garnered them recognition as an Apple Distinguished School for the 2025-2028 program term. Schools are selected through a rigorous application process that reviews how the school uses Apple products to make an impact in teaching and learning at their schools. St. Matthew is the only school in the Archdiocese of New Orleans and the first in the region to claim this esteemed distinction.
The small St. Henry de Osso Chapel in Covington was filled to overflowing on April 25 when Archbishop-emeritus Gregory Aymond celebrated a Mass of Thanksgiving for the Sisters of the Society of St. Teresa of Jesus. The celebration brought together many supporters, friends and clergy to say farewell to the sisters, who will be leaving their Covington property this summer, pulling up roots that have run deep in this archdiocese for 111 years.

Outstanding students from dioceses across the state were honored at the Louisiana Catholic Student of the Year Awards Ceremony on March 27, hosted by the Diocese of Shreveport and Bishop Francis Malone with two students from the Archdiocese of New Orleans receiving top honors. Kinleigh Jean Deogracias, fifth grader from Our Lady of Prompt Succor (OLPS) in Chalmette, and Layla LeBoeuf, eighth grader from Ursuline Academy, were recognized among a total of 21 students from all seven dioceses in the state of Louisiana for their academic excellence, leadership and commitment to their faith.
